Surfchamp is a game that lets you experience the thrill of surfing. You have the option to practice, in which you will surf to your heart's content without wasting energy, or you can participate in a competition in which you will surf for ten rounds to try to get the best score. Before surfing you can enter your name and other statistics, choose your board, your suit to suit the weather conditions and look at the weather forecasts.
You start on the beach and watch from behind your surfer from a high angle and select a spot in the water to enter as the waves come rolling in from the sea. You paddle across the screen until you find a suitable wave and stand up on your board. You now control your surfer and try to stay on the board while doing tricks as the wave pushes you towards the beach. Paddling and surfing lowers your energy bar and when it's empty your ride is over.
The main selling point of the game was that it included a plastic surfboard to put on your keyboard and you press on certain parts of the board to stay on it and control it.
