Zyclunt
Zyclunt a fun anime-style side-scrolling platformer that not many people have heard of, mostly because it is only distributed on shareware channels.
The game is set in a dystopian future: in the year 2002 AD. the planet Earth was on the verge of social and economic collapse due to incurable diseases, drugs, crimes, etc. Cyborgs and biorroids were being exploited by crime lords in their fight against the establishment. You are Sou, a member of Zyclunt-- a band of retired and discredited soldiers paid by the Establishment to perform covert missions. After being recruited by the service, you are finally assigned your first mission, as a band of mecha have been spotted in district D-C-14, where the regular security council meeting was being held. . . .
The gameplay is the usual platformer, but with excellent graphics and animations that make Zyclunt stand out from other shareware titles. The various types of robots and Cyborgs you encounter look like they're straight out of popular Japanese comics (manga) - it's great fun to see their cool designs and attacks. There are several scenes between missions that move the story forward, and they're also very well done.
In short, if you're a fan of futuristic action games with lots of robots (e. g. Mega Man), you'll have a lot of fun with Zyclunt even if the possibilities seem impossible at times. Highly recommended.
