A Lenda da Gávea
Two million years ago, a spacecraft crashed on what is now the Brazilian coast. The alien survivors of the crash buried the radioactive wreckage and the body of the ship's captain inside a huge rock and carved his image into it. In present-day America, the military begins experimenting with mind-altering technology. One of them goes into a trance and begins to relate what happened all those years ago in Brazil. The U. S. government decides to investigate these claims by deploying troops near the Pedra da Gávea, the only structure matching the description in Brazilian territory. A climber hired by the army as a guide discovers the plot and sends secret military documents to a friend, hoping he can unravel the mystery hidden inside the rock.
A Lenda da Gávea is a text adventure from Brazil made with the G. A. C. utility. The parser is not as sophisticated as the one in the Infocom games, but it is a step beyond the verb-noun parser of the Scott Adams adventures (it cannot process string commands, but it understands pronouns).
The main objective of the game is to gain entry to Gávea's rock. To achieve this, the player has to collect various objects that are scattered around the dense vegetation. Some of these objects are useless, and are intended as false clues. On the screen there are two images of a snake. As a warning, when approaching a dangerous situation they transform into images of an anthropomorphic figure of death. Although the game is written entirely in first person, the game oddly warns about hunger and thirst. If the player does not drink or eat something in the game, after a few turns the death screen appears.
