Journey to the Centre of the Earth!
Journey to the Centre of the Earth! is a single-player game that has nothing to do with the Jules Verne classic. This game, the first episode of a trilogy, was released as shareware, while the other games, Episode 2: Adventures at the Center of the Earth, and Episode 3: Escape from the Center of the Earth! had to be purchased.
In this game the player takes control of a character that looks like a ball with four legs coming out of it that comes from the planet Cranium. The home planet is in trouble, civilization is in decline, so your world leader has sent you on a mission to collect ten things from Earth. These objects are knowledge, life, wisdom, prosperity, youth, honor, health, happiness, love and peace, and each object corresponds to a new level of the game.
The objects are hidden beneath the surface of the Earth and the player must guide his character through the subway labyrinth to find them. Armed with only a laser, the player must maneuver around the machinery that runs the world and avoid the creatures that live in the maze while searching for the key object. Along the way, the player can collect money. This is important, as it allows the player to collect usable objects that can help or hurt, (these are not documented and it is up to the player to figure out which is which and what effect they have).
The player starts the game with two lives, but during the game there are objects that can grant an additional life.
