Description Radio Baseball

One of Electronic Arts' oldest sports releases and one of the few sports simulators it has published, Radio Baseball is a solid baseball simulator from the now-defunct Diamond Edge Software. Despite its age, the game holds up very well over time, thanks to excellent team choices (you can choose teams of Majors and Superstars spanning 5 decades), strong coaching options, and good computer AI.

The game starts with choosing the two sides (one or both can be human or computer controlled), which players are injured this season, which pitchers need rest, and you're on the diamond. The in-game options are excellent: you can even choose whether to let players use their own judgment as to whether or not they will attempt to steal when on base, save/unsave lines, change fielding options, etc. League games can be saved to disk and continued whenever you want, although unfortunately the game doesn't keep many detailed stats. The fact that it's a text-only simulation may also turn fans away from action-oriented baseball simulators.

Overall, however, Radio Baseball is a great simulation that lays the groundwork for successive baseball simulators, and predates Dynamix's solid Front Page Sport Baseball by nearly a decade.
