Railroad Pioneer is a video game in the strategy genre developed by Kritzelkratz 3000 GmbH and published by JoWooD Productions Software AG originally released in 2003. It is currently playable on Windows.

It is 1830 in the new American frontier and people are beginning to realize how big the country is. In an effort to bring people together, something must be built to trade goods and transport people. This something is the railroad.

As the owner of a railroad, you must lay tracks, maintain trains, and generally make a profit in order to expand. The ultimate goal is to create a transcontinental railroad linking New York to California. But beware, natural obstacles, rude highwaymen and competing companies will get in your way and try to stop you. You will also have to keep an eye on supply and demand to make sure that the train picks up the goods it needs at each station and that they are the most profitable. Successful expansion will result in upgrades to locomotives, wagons, production areas and skills.

The game itself is an isometric construction and management game. Your only controls are where to lay track, where to direct and supply locomotives to, and where to direct your geographers (people on foot). Different buildings allow you to build more pieces of your train, adjust the production of certain facilities and take on special missions that occasionally appear. Getting goods to where they are needed most will reward you with a steady bank flow and allow your empire to expand.
