Rat Splat!

Rat Splat! is a video game in the action genre and published by Prism Leisure Corporation Plc originally released in 1986. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

The situation in the sewers is critical. The rats are breeding in such numbers that something has to be done. The player is chosen for the task and has to go down and reduce the population. But in the darkness of the sewers also lurks something more dangerous, an angry monster with feelings for rats.

Rat Splat! is a platform game consisting of fixed screen levels. Each level has a series of platforms connected with ladders that the player moves between. On the platforms there is cheese to pull the rats out of their hiding places. As the rats run back and forth across the platforms, the player has to approach them and hit them on the head with his hammer. At the same time, the player has to watch out for the monster that tries to hunt the player. The hammer is not lethal enough for the monster, so the player has to switch to a spray can in order to kill it. The cheese must be protected. When the rats have eaten it all, they will stop appearing. To complete a level, the player has to kill 15 rats, but he can't take too long or he might be overcome by the smell of cheese and die.
