Description Remains Robot
“Remains Robot” places the player in control of a compact exploration machine sent into the remains of a devastated industrial complex. The surface structures have collapsed, the power network has failed, and abandoned facilities are occupied by hostile mechanisms that continue to operate without supervision. The objective is to enter each section of the complex, recover the scattered components required for the mission, and reach the exit before the robot’s energy is exhausted. Progress depends on careful examination of the ruins as much as on quick movement, since useful equipment is often concealed behind damaged walls or in apparently empty chambers.
The robot moves through a series of connected screens representing storage rooms, maintenance passages, factories, and underground service areas. Its principal weapon is a forward-firing energy shot, while movement is handled with the keyboard or joystick controls available on the SMC-777. Small enemy machines patrol fixed routes, rush from openings, or emerge when the robot crosses particular points in the building. Contact causes damage, and the limited energy supply gives every encounter a cost. Batteries, replacement parts, and other items restore operating capacity or open routes that cannot be crossed with the robot’s initial equipment.
The ruins are arranged as a compact maze rather than a simple linear course. Doors may require a switch from another room, and some passages remain inaccessible until a component has been collected. The player must remember the position of junctions and return through previously visited areas while avoiding renewed attacks. Falling debris, narrow platforms, electrical hazards, and moving machinery provide additional dangers. There is little room for careless shooting, as the screen can quickly become crowded with projectiles and pursuing enemies. Successful play comes from learning patrol patterns, choosing safe moments to advance, and conserving energy for the deeper sections.
Visually, “Remains Robot” uses sharply defined pixel artwork suited to the SMC-777 display. The scenery is built from repeating industrial tiles, with steel corridors, broken conduits, computer terminals, ladders, and heavy doors giving each area a distinct mechanical character. The player robot is a compact, easily recognized figure whose movement and firing animation remain clear even when several objects share the screen. Dark backgrounds and bright structural outlines create an austere atmosphere, while flashes from weapons, warning panels, and explosions provide most of the color and visual motion.
The audio is spare and functional, consisting of electronic tones for movement, firing, collisions, item collection, and changes in the robot’s condition. Short signals warn of depleted energy or a completed objective, giving the player information without interrupting the action. With its combination of maze exploration, resource management, and direct mechanical combat, “Remains Robot” offers a demanding mission in which every recovered part expands the robot’s chances of reaching the heart of the ruined complex.
