Rent A Hero

Rent A Hero is a video game in the action genre developed by SEGA Enterprises Ltd. and published by SEGA Enterprises Ltd. originally released in 1991. It is currently playable on Genesis.

Tarō Yamada is a normal young man living in the suburbs with his parents, until one day a strange package containing a superhero costume arrives at his house by mistake. He dons the costume to entertain some guests, but soon discovers that it actually gives him superpowers when he accidentally blows his father through a wall.

The suit turns out to be the combat armor Rent A Hero, designed so that anyone can become a hero. You can keep it, but there's only one catch: You have to pay rent. Of course, SECA, the company that makes the armor, also offers jobs to its renters, and they pay well if you're good enough.

Rent A Hero is an action role-playing game in which the player must make a living as a part-time hero by taking odd jobs. While these jobs start out simple, such as delivering items and running errands, they eventually involve taking on gangs, corrupt businesses, and a citywide conspiracy.

The player explores Aero City as a traditional top-down RPG, filled with stores, houses and people to talk to. However, battles take place as side-view action sequences. When the player has Combat Armor equipped, its energy depletes until it eventually deactivates, but it can be recharged by buying new batteries at a store.
