Rocket Rangers

Rocket Rangers is a video game in the action genre originally released in 1990. It is currently playable on DOS.

Another variation on the classic interstellar combat style Spacewar!!!, played against a human player or the computer: two triangular spaceships face off for survival, with the simple premise of kill or be killed. The ships freely roam the stage, using rotation and thrust controls to manipulate their movement; edge wrapping can be turned on or off, and an optional gravity well can be placed in the center, with or without sun (crashing into one is highly unwise).

Victory is achieved by destroying the hull of the opposing ship. Both players are equipped with a shield, which protects the hull until it can be shot down, and a regenerating energy store that is depleted by pushing, shooting or using a special ability: the powerful disruptor (which launches a high-damage sphere at close range), the tractor beam (which brings the two ships together) or the hyperspace teleporter (which moves the ship to a random location). Taking heavy damage can disrupt or disable some of the ship's controls, so fly carefully.
