The game is played with a traditional Italian deck of cards, which has 40 cards in four suits. The suits are Swords, Batons, Coins, and Cups. The game can be played with two, three, or four players. The object of the game is to capture more cards than your opponents.

Scopa Free is a turn-based game. Each player takes turns playing a card from their hand.
