Sidewinder

Sidewinder is a video game in the action genre developed by Dragonfly and published by Tronix Publishing, Inc. originally released in 1982. It is currently playable on VIC-20.

Earth is once again threatened by an alien invasion. The last remaining radio tower is under attack and without it the skilled Sidewinder Commandos won't stand a chance against the invaders. The Sidewinder Commandos are the last remaining helicopter force and the player is one of them. The aliens are programmed to destroy the player, so he has to do everything he can to defeat them.

Sidewinder is a variant of Defender. The player takes control of a helicopter and can fly over the surface of the planet in any direction. All around him he will find a myriad of aliens that he has to shoot down or else he is likely to meet an early death. The player's objective is to defend a series of radio towers. The player has three lives at the start and for every 3000 points he gains a new one. There are a number of different enemies, including one that suddenly appears on the screen and heads straight for the player. Before the game the player can choose from ten levels of difficulty.
