Socher Hayam

Socher Hayam is a video game in the simulation genre developed by CET and published by CET originally released in 1989. It is currently playable on DOS.

In this educational trading simulator, the player assumes the role of a maritime merchant in the eastern Mediterranean, sailing from port to port and trading regional goods. The objective is to conclude seven days of trading at the highest possible profit.

Three different ports can be visited (in Israel, Turkey and Egypt), where three types of trade goods are bought and sold: copper, olives and grain; prices differ at each location and fluctuate daily. But market volatility will be the least of your problems: the high seas are fraught with dangers - from storms to pirates - and random events can dent your fortunes, such as navigational errors, theft or even dockworkers' strikes. You can decide to play it safe or face risks such as bad weather, night voyages and sailing with an overloaded ship.

All of these dangers can cause damage to your ship, which can lead to costly repairs. Encounters with pirates are especially unpredictable, but the odds can be stacked in your favor if you hire some armed escort ships. Other incidents are somewhat more fortunate, such as the occasional dodge in a harbor or encounter with a derelict ship. Your hard-earned money can be banked or kept on hand for contingencies; whatever your winnings, all stored goods must be sold at the end of the week, as the score is calculated based on your total winnings.
