Description Space Conflict

This turn-based strategy game can be played against the computer or against another human player (either hot or modem). Each side starts with a starbase, a group of ships, some money and a simple goal: total annihilation of the enemy.

Several ship types are available, from the humble scout to the mighty destroyer, and each has its own stats: hull strength, energy, shields, scanner range, number of weapon bays, and moves per turn (firing a weapon also counts as a move). The map grid is made up of different types of sectors, some with associated astral phenomena that can help you, hinder you, or simply throw you off course. Planets can be mined for resources to bolster your treasury, and the starbase orders new ships and performs hull repairs; additional fixes and upgrades (weaponry, shields, and energy storage) can be found on trade planets, for the right price.

Two opponents playing over a modem connection can communicate via the text chat option. For solo players who are feeling chatty, the game offers digitized voice commentary for almost any action... or lack thereof.
