Space Jockey is a video game in the action genre developed by James Wickstead Design Associates and published by U.S. Games originally released in 1982. It is currently playable on Atari 2600.
Space Jockey is a single player side-scrolling shooting game. The object of the game is to shoot down the various enemies flying next to the player's attack saucer and score as many points as possible. Tanks, jets, propeller planes, helicopters, weather balloons and more will pass over the screen and try to destroy the player's saucer. There are also trees and houses on the ground, and shooting them adds points to your score. If you score 1000 points, you get an extra saucer. Several variations of the game are included that control the difficulty of the game, the enemy's ability to move, and the player's ability to move his saucer.
