Space Shark is a classic game for Apple IIgs players that was released in 1990. The goal of Space Shark is to survive three levels of alien carnage and reclaim the abducted shark royalty. In a special twist, the player commands a giant space shark intent on conquering Earth and devouring the citizens!
The game starts off with a bizarre introduction sequence which depicted the villainous aliens invading with their star-shrouded spaceship. Players must traverse through a side-scrolling adventure, fighting off aliens and dodging their laser beams. Additionally, there are obstacles scattered throughout the levels, such as asteroids and gravity fields, that test the player's coordination. The main currency of the game is "food", which is collected throughout the levels and used to upgrade the space shark's arsenal.
Space Shark offers a classic score system featuring an array of bonuses, allowing for a competitive high score experience. As a bonus feature, the game supports the use of a joystick, allowing for smoother controls and a more immersive play experience.
