Speed-Kar

Speed-Kar is a video game in the action genre developed by PLBM Games and published by PLBM Games originally released in 1996. It is currently playable on DOS.

Speed-Kar is an homage to the old, simple action games of the 1980s and features a scrolling maze in which you must play a variant of 'Capture the Flag' by maneuvering your car through the maze to capture the flags (wow!) and avoid being run over ('tagged') by enemy cars.

Additional hazards include rocks and other obstacles that can destroy your car if you hit them.

As you drive, your car consumes fuel at a steady rate. When you run out of fuel, your car slows down to a much slower speed and avoiding enemy cars becomes almost impossible. Almost...

If the next enemy cars get too close, you can spend a little of your fuel to emit a puff of smoke and hopefully buy some time while they get confused.

Each successive level features more enemy cars, different flags, different rocks, and different speed levels for both your car and the enemy cars.

Occasionally you will have a 'Challenge' stage, where the enemy cars will stand still until you collect all the bonus flags or run out of fuel. If you die during a Challenge stage, you will immediately move on to the next Regular stage, if you have any cars left.
