Stalag 1

Stalag 1 is a video game in the action genre and published by Rabbit Software LTD originally released in 1984. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

In Stalag 1, you play as the commandant of a World War II prison camp, or Stammlager. Your task is to prevent the prisoners from tunneling out of the camp, as shown in movies such as The Great Escape. Use the joystick to move around the camp, with the barracks in the center of the screen. The POWs will look like little 8x8 pixel men digging colored lines in the ground, and you stop them by stepping on them, after which the opening tones of Deutschland über alles sound. If a prisoner reaches the camp fence, the tunnel opens and many prisoners will make a quick escape. However, if the officer is moved to the end of the tunnel, he will be eliminated. Pressing the joystick button while moving will make your officer run. Although the camp has guard dogs, they are of no use to you, as they run aimlessly and stun you so that the prisoners can dig without worrying about you. Once six prisoners have escaped, it's game over.
