Star Destroyer: Episode I

Star Destroyer: Episode I is a video game in the action genre originally released in 1986. It is currently playable on DOS.

The galaxy has a problem: an evil armada that rules with an iron fist from its 20 bases in space. But your Star Destroyer Squadron will have none of that; now the evil armada has a problem too, and that problem is you. Your job is divided into three simple tasks: hunt down enemy patrols, infiltrate the bases and blow them up; consequently, each level is also divided into three parts.

First, you pilot your fighter through space, taking out hostile ships: you do this with your twin lasers, or with your supply of 3 torpedoes that instantly destroy any enemy on screen. Enemy fire will deplete your shields, but they can be replenished by firing at the floating shield pods. Once you have defeated the defenses, you sneak into the base reactor shaft, and must pilot your ship while avoiding the tunnel walls. Finally, you reach the reactor core to deliver the coup de grace. If you make it out, you will live to fight another day . . but the enemy at the next base will be better prepared.
