Description Star Trek: First Contact

The latest in Simon & Schuster's trio of Star Trek games and arguably the best, First Contact continues the exploits of the intrepid Captain James T. Kirk and his crew outside the starship Enterprise.

Their mission this time begins with the transport of a diplomatic group to the unexplored planet Gothica. As is typical of the series, this innocent mission soon turns into a potential galactic war, and it's up to you to save Starfleet and the Federation itself. The game's interface remains the effective multi-window presentation used in the previous two games, with some additional commands, such as the ship's computer (F7 key), which contains useful and serendipitous knowledge on topics ranging from the various characters to the different aliens and planets you'll encounter. The captain's logbook now keeps track of all the important actions you have performed, and you can add logs from the current game session to the logbook (similar to the 'LOG ON' command in other IF games). Crew members now display a much wider range of responses appropriate to the situation.

Overall, the additional features and the more authentic Star Trek atmosphere and plot make this the crowning glory of the Star Trek IF trio.
