Startopia

Startopia is a video game in the simulation genre developed by Mucky Foot Productions Limited and published by Eidos GmbH originally released in 2001. It is currently playable on Windows.

Startopia is a real-time city management game. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, your job is to rebuild the once thriving network of space stations. You must compete with other companies, using economic and military means to expand your power.

The toroidal space stations are divided into three decks, each divided into several sections with bulkheads. Droids construct buildings, deliver cargo, make repairs and can open sealed bulkheads. The first deck houses the basic buildings to maintain the station, such as a port for alien visitors, a charger for your work droids, and an energy collector that powers the various facilities. The energy also serves as currency. Placer's inner deck houses stores, bars, discos and other entertainment. The outer deck, called the Biodeck, serves to grow plants and trees and is used by the visiting aliens as a recreational deck.

Nine different alien races, each with their own abilities and preferences, can visit your station. The aliens can be hired to work for you in your facility or as security. The game modes offered are missions, sandbox and multiplayer.
