Street Legal

Street Legal is a video game in the racing / driving genre developed by Invictus Games, Ltd. and published by Activision Value Publishing, Inc. originally released in 2002. It is currently playable on Windows.

Street Legal was released in 2002 and has been heralded by gamers ever since for both its level of difficulty and its replay value. It is a racing game set in the world of street racing, and as such, requires the player to stay one step ahead of the competition. The game comes with an array of cars to choose from, and gamers are able to customize their rides within certain parameters. Additionally, they must manage their own garages as the game progresses and build their skills as racers.

The objective of the game is to progress through the levels, winning races and earning money to upgrade the vehicles. It also offers some noteworthy features, such as an interesting career mode set in the fictional city of Silver Lake, which lets gamers pick and choose their sponsor and work their way up the ranks. Players can join clubs and compete in challenges to prove their street-cred.

The gameplay also stands out from its peers. Street Legal has a focus on realistic elements, such as the need to make sure the vehicle has enough fuel and is in good working order (otherwise the game ends in a crash!) Other elements include having to deal with the varying weather conditions, police chases and random attendance from the locals.

In short, Street Legal is an interesting, action-packed and very different racing game. It requires both skill and concentration from the player and stands up to comparison with other racing games, both old and new. It remains a classic and still sees some loyal players coming back to it.
