Sturmtruppen: The Videogame is a video game in the action genre developed by Idea Software and published by Idea Software originally released in 1992. It is currently playable on Amiga.
Sturmtruppen is a platform and shooting game based on the Italian comic book of the same name by Bonvi, which depicts the misadventures of a German battalion during World War II, composed of cowardly, childish and incompetent soldiers.
The player controls an infiltrator soldier who must fight his way through the German garrison in six horizontally scrolling levels. At first, you can only use punches and kicks, but as you defeat your superiors, you will get a limited amount of bullets and grenades. In each level, you will come across vehicles such as motorcycles, jeeps and small planes, and once you get on them, you can play in a side-scrolling shooting mode similar to Moon Patrol or Silkworm. When the energy bar runs out, you have to move on foot, and if the energy bar runs out while moving on foot, the game is over.
Like Lupo Alberto, also from Idea Software, the game box comes with an unfinished Sturmtruppen comic. At the end of each level, the player is shown one of the missing panels and can only complete the comic by completing the game.
