Subterranea is a video game in the action genre developed by Imagic and published by Imagic originally released in 1983. It is currently playable on Atari 2600.
Subterranea is a side-scrolling shooting game. Your objective is to find the treasure crystals in the Hexuplex caves. You control a cave ranger and have to blow up the different types of aerial robots guarding the caves. Once you have destroyed all the robots in the cave, a passage will open up and you can enter the cave. When you reach the last level of the cave, you can collect the treasure crystal and move on to the next (more difficult) set of caves to find another crystal. Be careful not to run into the cave walls. When all the waiting Cave Rangers crash, the game ends. The cave becomes narrower and the enemies move faster as you advance. Standard and advanced skill levels are available.
