Super Columns

Super Columns is a video game in the puzzle genre developed by SEGA Enterprises Ltd. and published by SEGA of America, Inc. originally released in 1995. It is currently playable on Game Gear.

Super Columns is an updated version of Columns with more gameplay options, but with the same setup, maneuver the falling blocks in groups of three or more to remove them from the screen. In addition to Versus mode, there is also a Story mode.

An evil sorcerer named Surhand has stolen a mystical amulet that brings peace and serenity to the land of Phoenicia and hopes to use it to bring death and destruction to the land. The player must fight his way through his four guards in a series of best-of-three column games to take on Surhand and bring peace back to the land.

Flash mode also returns to this version, as does the new Endless mode, where the main objective is to score as many points as possible before the timer runs out. There are also special columns throughout these modes such as the Glow Columns that eliminate all blocks of the same color on the screen at once as well as the Stone Block Columns that can only be eliminated through magical power-ups that can be obtained by eliminating the base blocks.
