In Tailchaser the player controls an armed badger whose job is to defend the land of Ivy Island from parasites. Unfortunately, a demon wants to extend his empire and sends his minions on a crusade. So the player jumps and fights through seven large side-scrolling levels to conquer them back and rescue their residents.
Each level has a different theme, such as a ghost mansion or a forest. Since the levels are large, the game gives markings and hints on where to go when you reach a branch. Most enemies are eliminated with the badger's weapon, which can be upgraded, but sometimes there are puzzles to solve, for example, a locked door needs a certain object to open that you have to find first. But since there is no time limit, the player can take his time to solve them.
