Tengai Makyō II: Manjimaru

Tengai Makyō II: Manjimaru is a video game in the role-playing (rpg) genre developed by Hudson Soft Company, Ltd. and published by Hudson Soft Company, Ltd. originally released in 1992. It is currently playable on TurboGrafx CD.

Many years ago, the legendary warriors of the Fire Clan were expelled from the Garden of Eden and built the wonderful land of Jipang. A thousand years later, Jipang is entering its medieval era. It seems that the province of Hida suffers from a curse cast by the evil clan of the Dark Orchids. To destroy the Orchids, a young man named Manjimaru must fight the demons that protect them, find companions to aid him in the quest, and prove himself worthy of his great legacy as a descendant of the Fire Clan.

Tengai Makyō II: Manjimaru is a sequel to Tengai Makyō: Ziria. Although not connected to its predecessor directly in terms of story, the game is set in the same semi-humorous interpretation of feudal Japan, and shares many recurring elements related to gameplay and style. The player navigates a party of up to four characters in a vast world divided into provinces, each with its own capital city and several smaller towns. Randomly encountered enemies are fought in turn-based, first-person combat. As in the previous game, magic spells must be obtained by locating Tengu retreats; they can then be equipped on any character and exchanged between them.

Enemy health points are displayed during battles, and characters regain full health as they level up. Full-screen anime-style cutscenes with voice-overs advance the story. Unlike the previous game, Manjimaru has several audio music tracks in addition to the synthesized ones.
