The Golf is a video game in the sports genre developed by Micro Cabin Corp. and published by Micro Cabin Corp. originally released in 1982. It is currently playable on Toshiba Pasopia.

The Golf for the Toshiba Pasopia presents a compact computer interpretation of the sport, placing the player on a series of neatly arranged fairways viewed from above. Each hole is drawn as a complete playing area, with the tee, fairway, rough, bunkers, water hazards, and green clearly separated by simple blocks of colour. The uncluttered display gives the course an almost diagram-like appearance, allowing the position of the ball and the route to the hole to be read at a glance. Trees, sand, and other course features serve both as decoration and as obstacles that must be considered before each shot.

Play is built around selecting the direction and strength of a stroke. The player first aims the shot, then chooses an appropriate level of power before sending the ball across the course. A firm drive is useful from the tee, but excessive strength can carry the ball into rough or hazards, while a cautious stroke may leave too much distance for the next attempt. The position of the ball after every shot is therefore important, and successful play depends upon combining accurate aiming with careful control of distance. Approaches to the green require particular attention, since a shot that reaches the putting surface is not necessarily close enough to the hole for an easy finish.

Once on the green, the character of the game changes from long-distance placement to delicate putting. The cup is shown within the green area, and the player must judge both direction and force to guide the ball into it. A stroke that is too strong can send the ball past the hole, while insufficient power leaves it short. Hazards and boundaries add further penalties to careless play, making a straight line toward the flag less attractive when it crosses a bunker or water feature. The score is determined by the number of strokes required to complete each hole, encouraging the player to seek a reliable route rather than simply striking the ball as far as possible.

The Pasopia’s limited display is used effectively through bold, uncomplicated graphics. The ball remains easy to follow against the fairway, and the course layout is arranged to provide an immediate understanding of the available space. There are no animated golfers or elaborate scenery; the emphasis remains on the changing position of the ball and the tactical shape of each hole. The restrained presentation gives The Golf the character of a tabletop course translated directly to the computer screen, with the machine handling calculations that would otherwise require a physical board and markers.

Audio is equally spare, consisting primarily of brief electronic tones and stroke-related signals rather than continuous music. These sounds confirm selections and actions while leaving the visual course as the main focus. The result is a quiet, methodical game in which every shot becomes a small test of judgement. The Golf offers an accessible introduction to computer golf while rewarding players who learn to moderate their power, avoid hazards, and build a low score through consistent play.
