The Treehouse

The Treehouse is a video game in the educational genre developed by Brøderbund Software, Inc. and published by Brøderbund Software, Inc. originally released in 1991. It is currently playable on DOS.

One of the best edutainment titles ever made for preschoolers (ages 5-8), The Treehouse was designed to prepare first and second graders to develop a positive experience toward learning, as well as impart knowledge about the basic subjects they are learning in schools.

Children will enjoy discovering many mini-games and activities that are cleverly presented as objects in The Treehouse. The games cover a wide range of topics. In one game, for example, children will learn new words, organize them into sentences, and see them acted out by eccentric bug actors. In another, they will practice elementary math skills and identify coins to outsmart pirates. They will learn about the animal kingdom and see how to animate more than ninety animals placed in different natural settings. Afterwards, children will be able to demonstrate their natural science knowledge in a fun game show, What's My Animal!

In addition to mini-games, The Treehouse also features many activity centers that are there just for fun. In the Music Studio, children can explore their musical talents as they compose songs using a variety of instruments and styles. In the Theater, they can create a play by mixing and matching a range of characters, props and scenery, as well as write their own movie script.

With an amazing array of activities, games and cute animations, The Treehouse will keep preschoolers enthralled for hours on end without them realizing they're learning useful skills along the way. Not surprisingly, the program has become one of Brøderbund's best sellers, and has inspired many sequels and CD-ROM versions.
