Thunderbolt

Thunderbolt is a video game in the action genre developed by Codemasters Software Company Limited, The and published by Codemasters Software Company Limited, The originally released in 1987. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

Thunderbolt is set in the future and deals with the war between humans and the planet Proxima. Both experiment with chronoclasm bombs that have the ability to destroy objects from the future or the past. Unfortunately, a major accident during a test causes the space-time continuum to collapse. The immediate consequence for the player, who drives a Thunderbolt fighter, is that he has to fight his way through enemies from different decades.

The game is a horizontal scrolling shooter with the basic promise of flying from left to right without being destroyed. Useful are the two weapon systems: the unlimited standard attack and a special attack that causes the death of all enemies on the screen. Every hit and contact with the environment causes the player's fuel reserve to decrease. The latter is important because there are many structures that can only be passed with precise positioning.
