Tommy's Gin Rummy

Tommy's Gin Rummy is a video game in the strategy genre developed by Tommy's Toys originally released in 1987. It is currently playable on DOS.

Tommy's Gin Rummy is a single player card game in which the player plays against the computer.

Gin Rummy is a popular card game in which ten cards are dealt to each player. Simply put, the object of the game is to make sets of cards of the same rank or sets of cards of the same suit. Players alternately take a new card from the deck or from the discard pile in their hand. If it does not fit it is discarded, if it improves the hand it is kept and another card is discarded. The player who manages to get rid of all his cards wins the hand and gets points, the first to get a predetermined number of points wins the game.

In addition to the standard game this implementation has two optional variations of Gin Rummy, Oklahoma also known as Cedarhurst, and Tommy's Space Cowboy Gin both of which change the points needed to 'hit'.

The game is controlled entirely with the keyboard, has some basic sound effects and a demo mode where the game plays by itself. It has command line switches to start with the sound off, force monochrome mode and another to force color mode.
