Description Total Recall

Doug Quaid is a mild-mannered construction worker with a beautiful wife in a futuristic Earth apartment. Beset by restless feelings and dreams about Mars, he heads to Rekall, Inc. to purchase a 'cheaper, better and safer than the real thing' commercial memory implant from a Martian vacation. However, the implant procedure uncovers latent memories of Quaid's real life as a secret agent of the Martian government. Relentlessly pursued by his former employers, Quaid must fight from Earth to Mars in a battle to reclaim his past and secure his future.

Total Recall for Amiga and Atari ST has players control Quaid as he fights through seven levels on Earth and Mars. The game alternates between platforming and driving levels. The platforming levels require Quaid to fight off guards and find the exit. The player can duck to avoid bullets and counterattack with both captured weapons and Schwarzenegger's meaty fists. The first level requires the player to locate objects to open the exit, and a later level has the player switching control between Quaid and resistance fighter Melina to solve a puzzle.

The driving levels are high-speed side-scrolling races, with the player's vehicle moving at a fixed speed. The player must dodge passing traffic, or blast it with their weapons. If he survives to the end, he must defeat a moving boss vehicle to finish the level. Between certain levels, scenes appear that tell the plot of the movie and set up the next scene.
