Touchline

Touchline is a video game in the strategy genre originally released in 1991. It is currently playable on DOS.

Touchline is a single-player soccer management game based on the English leagues prior to 1992, when the Premier League began. It claims to be the first management game with 'Programmed Luck'.

The player takes control of a fourth division club and must manage it to the top of the Premier League. The player can control most aspects of the game, this is a list of the main features taken from the documentation: 'You select the team, decide the training of the players, choose the team tactics, manage the team finances, organize incoming and outgoing transfers and supervise the club's employees'.
Teams can consist of up to twenty players, each of whom can be customized.

Whichever team the player chooses, he will start in the lowest division. All player names are fictitious, but the team names are authentic and the leagues are based on real positions circa 1990, when Millwall, Norwich, Charlton and Coventry were in the top division.

Games can be saved and then reloaded as required, however, to avoid any cheating there is a limit of 5 saves per season.
