Description Trapped

Trapped is one of the most iconic titles from the Atari 8-bit computer. Released in 1983, it was a unique action-adventure game based around T.I.M.- an acronym for Trapped In Monsterland. Players are tasked with T.I.M's goal to find his way out of a dungeon, in the form of four levels.

The object of the game is simple: players explore dungeons, avoid traps and collect objects to help them progress through the levels. To facilitate navigation, each level consists of two screens, the upper and lower "dungeon" areas, which are connected via ascending/descending staircases. Players must also defeat the monsters inhabiting the dungeons to gain entry to new areas.

Gameplay is challenging and intricate. Players must make effective use of their time and resources, avoiding traps and bargaining with the monsters they meet. Along the way, they must also collect objects and use them to inflict damage on their enemies. While the dangers are always looming, players are also aided by checkpoints, which allow them to start from the same place if they pass away.

If players make it through all four levels, they face Todan, the final boss. Defeating Todan requires utmost skill and smarts as the boss is difficult to damage, due to its four-way tracking and powerful energy blasts. Defeating it marks the victorious end to a thrilling adventure.

Inspired by action and adventure games, Trapped is a fun and engaging Atari 8-bit title. It pushes players to their limits, with its intricate puzzles and tight controls. While gamers today may find it a bit dated, it still remains one of the most memorable titles from the era and an important part of gaming history.
