Trivia Whiz

Trivia Whiz is a video game in the educational genre developed by Micro F/X Software and published by Apogee Software, Ltd. originally released in 1990. It is currently playable on DOS.

Probably two of the weirdest Apogee games out there, Word Whiz and Trivia Whiz are two decent trivia games by George Broussard and Scott Miller, two founders of Apogee.

Word Whiz is the more limited and straightforward game of the two: you must choose the correct synonym or definition of the highlighted word from 4 multiple choices. In Trivia Whiz, the questions cover a wide range of topics, and there's a nice real-time mechanic: you must answer each question in less than fifteen seconds to get bonus points. There are also 'free failures' that you can use.

All in all, this is a very fun game that trivia fans will enjoy, and Apogee fans will delight in their purchase ;) Many thanks to Apogee Central for publishing the registered versions of these games (with the blessing of the authors, no less) for us to enjoy. Last but not least: an interesting anecdote is that Trivia Whiz was not actually published under the Apogee name, but under 'Micro F/X', a small company run by George Broussard before he partnered with Scott Miller in 1990 to form Apogee.
