Turbo is part of MicroIllusions' One To One series. Like the other two games in the series (Fire Power and Galactic Invasion), it is primarily a multiplayer game, in which you play split-screen with two players over a local or modem connection. However, there is also a single-player mode, and this is a race against time, not against AI opponents.
Turbo is a violent racing game played from a top-down perspective. Two players face off in a no-rules death race on roads through the city, countryside and desert. The goal is to reach the finish before the enemy, who can be slowed down with various weapons and objects. There are objects such as grenades, missiles and oil that can be thrown in front of enemy cars. There are also defensive spikes and wheels that increase your top speed.
In addition to hostile drivers, there are also hostile cars, motorcycles and pedestrians. These can be killed, but then the police will chase the player. Unless the player is careful or has spikes, the car must be stopped, or the police may push the car off the road.
