Tycoon City: New York is a city building simulator similar to the SimCity series. Players are tasked with developing the island of Manhattan, district by district. The goal is commercial activity and the happiness of the inhabitants. The game also allows players to build many of New York's iconic landmarks, such as the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, the Statue of Liberty and the United Nations. The goal is to unlock all of Manhattan's boroughs.
In the 'Build New York' mode, players build New York district by district, starting with Greenwich Village. The player must complete certain tasks, such as organizing parades or reaching a certain level of happiness, and compete with commercial rivals to unlock the next district.
In 'Sandbox' mode, players have control of the entire island from the start and can choose between different difficulty levels.
