War Play is a video game in the action genre and published by Anco Software Ltd. originally released in 1986. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.
Your enemy has taken control of a strategically important island and has made it well defended thanks to a network of bunkers with information about the island's defenses. You need to destroy all the bunkers to obtain this vital information, as well as show the exact location of the commander, who keeps moving the position of his headquarters. You are tasked with taking control of three types of vehicles, two planes and a tank, each with their own strengths and weaknesses that you must take into account when attacking the enemy. You are also equipped with radar to show your position in the area, and once the bunkers are destroyed, the location of the Commander will be displayed.
War Play is a shooter that is viewed from a high angle with the screen scrolling in multiple directions as your vehicle moves. You must move around the area shooting at enemy vehicles and buildings while avoiding being hit by the enemy or losing that vehicle when it is destroyed. While the tank only moves along the ground and shoots forward, the two planes can be used to bomb buildings and vehicles. You can also increase or decrease the altitude, but if you fly too low you lose that plane if it hits an obstacle. Once all vehicles have been destroyed, the game ends. Two players can play and both play on the same side, taking turns attacking the enemy when the other player loses a vehicle. There are three skill levels to choose from (easy, medium and hard) and these adjust the control of each of your vehicles.
