Wembley Greyhounds

Wembley Greyhounds is a video game in the strategy genre and published by D&H Games originally released in 1988. It is currently playable on ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC.

Wembley Greyhounds is a betting game that allows one to three players to bet on various dog races over the course of a season at various courses. As money is won or lost on each race, a scoreboard is used to show each player's progress with the goal of finishing on top at the end of the season. Each winning dog moves on to Wembley to compete to be the champion dog.

Before a race, each player has several options such as looking at the tables and statistics, but the main options allow players to bet. There are two types of bookmakers to choose from and are a choice of four bookmakers to select from or the runner of the course. As decisions are made, a timer counts down the race and the odds on the dogs change. There are three types of bets that can be placed and they are win only, first two dogs in the correct order and first two dogs in any order. A maximum of £50 can be wagered and once all bets have been placed, it is on to the actual race.

The race can be watched with the different dogs swapping positions as the race progresses chasing a hare and when the race is over then the race result is displayed. The Wembley standings are shown before the players' score is shown.
