Description X-Men
X-Men is a side-scrolling beat'em up/platformer, much like its Mega Drive/ Genesis counterpart. Several characters from X-Men are playable throughout the game. The player can choose between two characters early on, Cyclops and Wolverine, and three levels are accessible. Over the course of the game, the player can unlock five other X-Men, namely Storm, Iceman, Rogue, Racer, Night Racer and Psylocke.
The story is that most of the X-Men have been kidnapped by Magneto, which is why only Cyclops and Wolverine are available from the start. Apparently, unlocking the characters is equivalent to rescuing him. Along the way, there are various enemies from the X-Men universe to defeat, and in the end, Magneto is once again in need of a reprimand.
The basic mechanics of the game are punching, (double) jumping and kicking. In addition, pressing Start activates/deactivates the characters' mutant abilities, for example Wolverine's claws or Cyclops' laser beams. However, their use consumes a limited amount of energy, which can be replenished by finding 'X' symbols.
