Yaksa is a classic MSX game that was released in 1988 by Korean game developer Zemina. It is a combination of action and adventure, set in a fictional world full of demons and magic. The game follows the story of a brave warrior named Jakyo, who has been summoned by the goddess Izanami to defeat the evil Yaksa and save the kingdom.

The game's graphics may appear simple by today's standards, but back in the late 80s, it was considered top-notch. The characters are well-detailed, and the backgrounds are colorful and vibrant. The game's music also adds to the overall immersive experience, with its traditional Korean-inspired tunes. Every element of the game is carefully crafted to transport players into the world of Yaksa.

Yaksa's gameplay is a blend of side-scrolling action and role-playing elements. Players control Jakyo as he journeys through different levels, battling hordes of demons and solving puzzles along the way. What sets this game apart from others of its time is its focus on strategy and decision-making. Players need to carefully plan their attacks and make wise use of their limited inventory to defeat enemies and progress in the game.

One of Yaksa's most notable features is its unique battle system. Players can choose to attack enemies with various weapons, such as swords and bows, or use magic spells to defeat them. The type of weapon or spell used affects the damage dealt and can also have different effects on enemies. Mastering the battle system is crucial to successfully completing the game.

Yaksa also offers a wide range of items and equipment for players to collect and use, adding a layer of depth to the gameplay. From healing potions to invincibility scrolls, players must strategically use these items to overcome tough challenges. The game also has multiple endings, depending on the player's choices and actions throughout the game, giving it a high replay value.
