Zonal Patrol

Zonal Patrol is a video game in the action genre and published by K'soft Limited originally released in 1986. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

Zonal Patrol is a shooter composed of a 7x7 grid consisting of 49 zones in various levels with each zone viewed over the entire screen. The idea is to clear each zone of Alien Cycloids by moving around the edge of the zone and shooting them with your gun which can fire up to 8 bullets at a time. The cycloids move around the screen and you must shoot them all, but if you touch one you lose one of your five lives. Once an area is clear, exits appear on each wall and you must enter one of them. Once inside, a grid map appears showing the area you are about to enter (in white), the cleared areas (in blue) and the areas still to be cleared (in red). You cannot re-enter the cleared areas, so you must plan a route to make sure you can reach all the areas or it will be game over if you are surrounded by cleared areas. If you clear all 49 zones, you will pass to the next level.
