Zoo Master is an arcade maze game for the Apple II.
A mad scientist has freed all the animals from their cages in the zoo, and the zookeepers must hunt him down while subduing escaped enemies. The player controls a small truck and moves it through the maze. It can move in four directions and is equipped with a tranquilizer gun to sedate escaping animals. There are also four traps in each zone, which can be sprung to capture the animals. Each zone has a variety of animals, such as bears, turtles, snakes, giraffes, elephants and rhinos. There are also various birds that appear on the stages, and if you capture them all, you will receive 1000 bonus points. Contact with an animal will reduce your life, but if you do not anesthetize the animal, you can safely collect the birds.
The player's goal is to continue south, passing through areas full of animals. The last area is the mad scientist's lair, where he will drop a cage containing a bear to slow down the player's advance. Capturing it will give you 5000 points and extra lives, allowing you to restart the game at a slightly higher difficulty level. You have three lives, and if you are killed by an animal, you restart at the beginning of that area.
