In Action Cat, the player takes the role of a humanoid cat who has to destroy a toothpaste factory. It's full of defensive mechanics and enemies, so it's fortunate that the protagonist is armed and can jump. The scrolling levels are shown from the side and often have labyrinthine structures. The goal of each level is to find the exit, which requires solving simple puzzles (using switches and finding keys) to open new paths of exploration. Of course, it is also important to stay alive: hits reduce the protagonist's energy bar, which eventually leads to the loss of lives; more are gained if you get enough points. Of great help are the various power-ups that can be collected along the way, for example, energy recharges, better weapons or bombs.
