Airstrike

Airstrike is a video game in the action genre originally released in 1995. It is currently playable on DOS.

Airstrike is a side-scrolling shooter with an Apache-type helicopter, participating in a series of missions in a war between the 'North Atlantic Defense Alliance' and a country called 'Dosnovia'.

Your main base is on an aircraft carrier off the coast of Dosnovia, and you are assigned specific targets to eliminate during the mission. The enemy consists of soldiers carrying missiles, gunboats, AA guns, radar stations and missile batteries located in and around inland houses and forests, and a selective approach is recommended to gain the most points in each mission. Bombing innocent trees counts as wanton destruction, and gives negative scores. The map turns around after a stretch of land, and you end up back on your carrier, where you can land and automatically replenish your missile supplies and repair the helicopter if it is damaged.

After completing a mission, you receive a report with positive mentions and negative reprimands, if you have damaged someone other than the enemy.

If you fail a mission, you have the option to retry it. If you give up, you start again from where you were in the mission list.

There are a total of 21 missions in the game, which was originally intended as a sprite demo, but evolved into a full shareware game.
