Alien Breed: Tower Assault

Alien Breed: Tower Assault is a video game in the action genre developed by Team17 Software Limited and published by Team17 Software Limited originally released in 1994. It is currently playable on DOS.

A scientific outpost on a distant planet has been attacked. Nothing is known of the attackers, as all communications have been destroyed. A team of marines is sent to investigate and destroy the unknown invaders. As their ships enter the atmosphere and approach the base, the defense lasers, damaged in the attack, spring into action. They launch wild bursts of laser fire at the approaching Marines, who are unprepared and suffer heavy losses. Rookies Nash and Jordan crash and must fight off the alien force.

As in the previous Alien Breed, the game is viewed from above. Your soldier shoots his way through the levels, collecting keys, ammo and credits along the way. Computers can be entered to buy new weapons. A new 'retreat' mode lets you shoot while moving backwards.

The game is largely non-linear, as most levels have multiple exits, and you can progress through the game in different ways. There are a variety of indoor and outdoor levels, although most of the time is spent inside some of the multi-level towers. After activating a self-destruct mechanism, you must escape the building quickly.
