Auf Wiedersehen Monty

Auf Wiedersehen Monty is a video game in the action genre developed by Gremlin Graphics Software Limited and published by Gremlin Graphics Software Limited originally released in 1987. It is currently playable on Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 16, Plus/4.

In Monty On the Run, intrepid coal thief Monty Mole flees to the rocky island of Gibraltar. However, the Intermole agency is on to him, and his only hope of escape is to scour Europe, raising enough money to buy the Greek island of Montos and live there in luxury.

This is the third Monty game (the fourth if you count Monty is Innocent), and the structure is similar to the previous three. It is based on platforms and stairs, with 80 screens each representing an area of Europe: the Eiffel Tower and the Leaning Tower of Pisa are some of the identifiable landmarks.

There are different ways to traverse the levels: some bouncy platforms and a new super-jump move allow you to move forward in a big way, while Monty can also suspend himself from ceilings and dodge his way. Monty can now fall without taking damage, although landing in water can cause him to lose several lives in quick succession. Collecting bottles of wine causes Monty to get drunk and go stumbling around randomly until he recovers upon sobering up again.

There are many items to collect: the most important are eurocheques for money and plane tickets. Once on a plane, you will have to fight the invading Intermole planes to get extra points.
