Battle of the Planets

Battle of the Planets is a video game in the strategy genre and published by Mikro-Gen Ltd originally released in 1986. It is currently playable on Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC.

Battle of the Planets is based on a children's science fiction cartoon series of the same name. Zoltar and his forces are attacking your solar system and its five planets: Xenath, Elias, Horaf, Olixal and Pete. As a G-Force space fighter armed with a Phoenix ship, you must repel each of these attacks, destroying enough of Zoltar's ships to prevent the attacks from succeeding.

The action takes place through your ship's window, with various types of enemy ships approaching and to be shot at with your lasers or torpedoes. Once you have targeted an enemy, you must keep the enemy ship in your crosshairs until it is destroyed. There are five status screens you must monitor: shield strength, energy stability, rocket status, laser status (it can overheat with constant use) and the current status of the planet you are defending.

To land on a planet you must fly to its target on the screen, and enter the docking bay. You will have to shoot down the landers, using your rocket system. This is also your chance to repair and refuel your ship.
