Bootleg Bandits

Bootleg Bandits is a video game in the racing / driving genre and published by Scorpio Gamesworld originally released in 1984. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.

You are a smuggler and, in your heavily armed armored car, you transport illegal Scotch whisky to your customers along various roads. Obviously, the police and local authorities are not happy with your line of business, so they have set out to stop and destroy you. Bootleg Bandits is a side-scrolling driving game in which the screen scrolls from left to right as you drive your car. As you drive, various police cars and helicopters appear from either side of the screen firing their guns or crashing into you, but you are equipped with radar to see where they appear. You are armed with missiles that fire forward, as well as smoke that shoots from the rear and destroys vehicles.

Missiles and other weapons are fired at you, but you also have the ability to jump great distances through the air. If you get hit by something, you explode and the damage meter goes up and when it fills up, it's game over. You also have to keep an eye on a fuel meter that decreases as you drive, but there are balloons that appear loaded with fuel and you jump into the air to refuel. If you run out of fuel, you stop and a plane appears and blows you up. Once you reach a customer you see him get drunk and fall and then move on to the next one facing the same dangers. Before starting the game you can select a skill level (1-5).
