Bullseye

Bullseye is a video game in the simulation genre developed by Macsen Software and published by Macsen Software originally released in 1985. It is currently playable on Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, BBC Micro.

A computer version of a famous TV quiz show based on the game of darts. The computer version features 2 players, both controlled by humans - on TV there were 3 teams of 2 (one amateur darts player and one to answer questions).

The first round uses a custom board that is divided both inwards (4 different categories representing 30, 50, 100 and 200 points respectively) and around (10 sections with the letters A-K, each representing a different topic). The first player must choose a category to aim at and shoot a dart at it. If they hit one of the sections corresponding to that letter, they get that score and are asked the question. If they hit another category, they get no bonus, but are asked the question, if it still exists. Each player has 3 attempts, with increasingly difficult questions worth 30, 50 and 100 points.

The second round consists of each player throwing 3 darts at a standard board, and the player with the highest score gets a question, with the value of the darts on offer. If he gets it wrong, the other player gets a chance, for the points he has scored. This is repeated 3 times.

After these 2 rounds, the player in front gets to aim at a board with 8 black segments, 8 red segments and the Bullseye. The bully scores 50 points, the other reds score a randomly chosen value between 15 and 45, the blacks score zero, and hitting a red a second time forfeits you that prize - hence the presenter's slogan 'don't get into black or red, nothing in this game for 2 in a bed'.

Once the player has finished the round, they choose whether to bet their score against the final prize board. You have to get 101 points in 4 darts (in the TV show it was 6 - 3 for each player).
